RUBY'S INTERVIEW WITH OPRAH

First I want to start off by saying that Ruby looked fabulous on Oprah. For me, Ruby's personality is effervescent. Part of Ruby's appeal is that she is so open and honest and that everyone or at least most people can relate to the battle of losing weight. I was mistaken about Ruby's initial size. Ruby went from and unimaginable 700lbs to her 356lbs frame. What an achievement!!! She chose to lose the weight naturally because she felt that there was not a quick fix. She wanted to learn why she ate as much as she did. She wanted to fix her problem and learn how to properly eat. She said that as a teenager she weighed between 250 and 280lbs. Although society would look at her and wonder how she got so big. . However, her motivation for losing the weight was that she didn't realize how limiting her life was and that the world was not made for people her size. Ruby answered one of my questions from my first blog about whether fat people are truly happy. Ruby said that she was always a very happy person. Her friends accepted her as she was and she never had a 'pity' moment.

  1. First of all God made this world for all mankind and the different sizes. I commend Ruby for taking the steps that she has what an accomplishment...I hope that she will continue to be strong, stay focused and work hard at her weight goal. I believe Ruby was also happy before, but her health is not good for someone weighing as much as she did. In order for her to try to live a long healthy life she will have to continue changing her eating habits, having a strong support system and do more exercising and the results will continue to follow.

  2. Ruby struck me as someone who is happy and positive regardless of her weight. She had a genuine smile and was a ray of sunshine. She didn't look traumatized because it helped that she grew up around people who accepted her and treated her nicely regardless of her weight. I'm proud that she realized her ex-boyfriend was not a positive person in her life. She was strong enough to let him go and trust God will send a positive man in her life. That's very powerful! I know sisters that look like super models and will not break up with their dead weight boyfriend....

  3. It's funny how weight is so important to so many people and how people judge you by your dress size. In a world that's slowly falling apart every day... It seems to me that this would be the last interest on people minds. But as you can see it's not. when will we ever learn what's important?
