BALLY'S TOTAL FITNESS

The national gym called Bally's aired a commercial that said 'skinny jeans are in'. The commercial TOLD the viewer that they needed to get into a gym (Bally's) so that they can fit into a pair of skinny jeans. Newsflash: skinny jeans are not for everyone. What do you think about that?

  1. Bally's must be suffering from the bad economy. Seriously though, they say things like that because it works. People who are not happy with the way the look and go to get a membership at Bally's because the commercial told them they needed to fit into skinny jeans will probably never make it to one work out session.

  3. Skinny jeans are not for everyone... I personally don't like them and to join any gym does not guatantee that you will get into a pair of skinny jeans based on the adverstisement.

  4. Who is Ballys to dictate anything to anyone. Marketing and sales tactics have been used by so many companies to get people to buy their product. The stupid people listen to them and the smart people continue doing what they want to do. Take charge of your life!

  5. Chill out, everyone. Jeez, you're alive and old enough to read and haven't noticed that sex is used in ads all the time? Hello!

I belong to Bally's and go for health reasons. My trainer is focused on my goals, which are to maximize my health by way of strengthening, reduce the chances of osteoporosis, build stamina, improve my sleep, and much more.

Ok, Bally's went the cheap route in their ad. But I don't blame Bally's alone. I blame the fact that as an incredibly affluent society (someone on the poverty line today has more comforts and wildly more at his/her fingertips than Henry VIII) and our insulation from the need for real sacrifice (such as those who survived the Great Depression and WWII). I include myself among all these softies. We eat up anything that offers instant gratification and eschew anything that requires will, sacrifice and difficulty. We love our beer, freedom, things we own and sex at will. Good God. Telling someone under the age of 70 (and I am also under 70, so I include myself) that you can't have "anything you want" is like telling a 2-year old that you can't have your candy before dinner. We throw a fit.

Let's all make a resolution to Grow the $*#& Up!
